Types of construction vehicles
To prepare the land and build a structure on a site, companies use a variety of vehicles. Each vehicle has its own tasks at the site based on its capabilities, and its operator is responsible for operating the vehicle to complete any work needed. Therefore it is important for those interested in a career in the field of construction to learn the different types of construction vehicles.
Bulldozers are often the first vehicles on a construction site as the place is cleaned by pushing the rubble. The metal blades on the front make pushing the debris of all kinds easier, including concrete, tree branches and large stones. Once the debris has been cleared, the earth is moved to level the site.
As bulldozers push the debris and excess earth beside the construction site, the front-loading machines load it into the dump trucks to be transported. With a shovel attached to the front of the vehicle, these rise and throw easily land until the place is clean. However, the front loading machines have a limitation since they cannot dig or go below ground level.
Transport debris and soil from the construction site is the responsibility of dump trucks. They can also bring rocks, gravel or additional land if needed to stabilize or even land on a site. There is a variety of dump trucks in construction. Some of them include traditional vehicles, double or triple trailer, allowing a truck trailer to transport more dirt and debris. In addition, there are road dump trucks being used in rough terrain and in mining.
Excavator / Backhoe
When you need to dig into a construction site, a bulldozer is used. These vehicles can be used for surface excavation projects like small trenches for water pipes or drain. They are also used to bury pipes after they have been installed covering them with excess land. For larger projects, such as for a basement or tunnel, they used backhoes digging. The depth that it can dig is based on the length and height of your arm. The longer and higher it is, they can dig deeper.
Work in a structure can begin once the ground has been prepared. The cranes are often brought for large structures or commercial buildings where heavy lifting is needed as metal beams and other materials. In addition, this type of construction vehicle can be used for large buildings where it is needed to reach great heights. The cranes vary in size and skills as there are different types. The truck-mounted cranes, tower cranes and rough terrain cranes are just some types of cranes used in the construction industry.
